In the heart of Wales is a beautiful mountain called Pencarreg. Sally, Clair and Meg live there and meet each day at river on their ponies. They often ride with their friends through the woods to the Nant, the secret valley the children call their own.
One day they meet a mystery boy staying in the tiny cottage on the mountainside. He has an incredible gift with horses and they respond to his ways as he communicates with them in their language. The children are fascinated with Cailo and throughout the summer they have many adventures with him as he teaches them about ponies and the wildlife around them.
They discover the truth about the wild ponies around the world and together they rescue a herd of Welsh ponies.
At the end of the summer on the Hill Pony Meet, they all ride to a golden beach on the west coast of Wales. It’s a fun three-day camping holiday full of adventure as they race along the beach and swim with their ponies in the sea.
